High-Force Pneumohydraulic Clinching Tool

Hand-held pneumohydraulic clinching tool with a working force of 60 kN. The wide punch-to-die opening allows working on parts with flanges up to 100 mm high.

Description

Tool advantages

  • high productivity — from 0.8 s per joint;
  • the joint preserves the integrity of the protective coating;
  • the pneumohydraulic tool guarantees high reliability;
  • round and rectangular joint shapes are available;
  • no smoke or sparks — clean, neat results;
  • the working-stroke button triggers only when the gap between the punch and die is 8 mm, ensuring a high level of safety;
  • straightforward servicing and low operating costs.

This hand-held clinching tool was created for joining metal sheets and serves as an alternative to spot welding, especially where preserving the coating is essential. The pre-stroke provides a punch-to-die distance of 60 mm, allowing the tool to be used on parts with flanges up to 100 mm high. The strong, permanent joint can be repeated quickly and easily thanks to the compact forming tooling (punch/die) and the high working force of 60 kN. A built-in adjustment nut allows quick setting of the working stroke, making it possible to join different combinations of materials and give the clinch joint the required shape.

The tool can also become part of an automated production line — it can be mounted on robotic cells, linear actuators and similar systems. For high manoeuvrability and work in all planes, it can be used together with a 3D suspension and a spring balancer. Custom frame configurations are available on request.

The payback period is very short thanks to minimal operating and maintenance costs and the absence of additional fasteners.

What is a clinch joint?

A clinch joint is a durable, permanent connection of metal sheets or profiles formed under pressure by cold stamping. A form-closed interlock is created in a single working stroke of the punch — no rivets, screws or welding required. The joint can be two-layer or multilayer, and parts made of stainless and mild steel, aluminium and other non-ferrous metals can be joined together. Another key advantage is that painted and coated surfaces of the joined parts remain undamaged.

Advantages of clinch joints

  • high joint strength;
  • the joining point is formed in seconds;
  • no limit on the number of material layers being joined;
  • parts made of different steels and alloys can be joined;
  • no additional fasteners required;
  • corrosion-resistant joint thanks to the absence of heat input;
  • the rectangular joint point is ideal for high-hardness and stainless steels;
  • excellent quality of the finished products.

Applications

Thanks to its reliability, ergonomics, undemanding maintenance and the instant formation of the clinch joint, this hand-held clinching tool is an excellent choice for buildings erected from light-gauge steel framing. It has proven itself at plants producing large prefabricated building elements and ventilation systems (fire dampers, ventilation valves and other products), as well as in the manufacture of road signs, household appliances, metal cabinets, electrical enclosures, refrigeration equipment, machine building and other industrial sectors.

The tool is supplied complete with a pneumohydraulic intensifier. When ordering, the forming tooling — punch and die — can be selected according to the required joint shape (round or rectangular) and the thickness of the sheets to be joined.
