Pneumatic Clinching Tool with Precision Adjustment

Pneumatically driven clinching tool with an eccentric intensifier, designed for fastening flange rails to ventilation ducts. Precision adjustment sets the exact level and depth of the clinch joint.

Description

Tool advantages

  • quiet operation;
  • long service life thanks to a simple design and the use of heat-treated tool steels;
  • punch and die made of high-strength alloy steel;
  • the movable die arm makes it easy to position the tool at the required point of the flange rail; the arm is pneumatically driven and controlled by a push button;
  • quick and easy punch and die replacement;
  • safe operation in fire-hazard facilities — no sparks or fumes; environmentally friendly;
  • compressed air is consumed only at the moment the joint is formed — unlike electric tools.

The clinching tool is designed to fasten a flange rail securely to a ventilation duct by creating a clinch joint, formed by compressing and plastically deforming the material. The tool features an eccentric intensifier with a pneumatic drive, which makes it versatile and convenient in small and large plants, directly on site, and in dusty or fire-hazard areas. A high-pressure quick coupler allows immediate connection to the compressed-air line. Multiple adjustment options make it possible to set the exact level and depth of the clinch joint. The movable die arm, pneumatically driven and operated at the touch of a button, simplifies positioning of the tool on the flange rail.

The payback period is very short thanks to minimal operating and maintenance costs and the absence of additional fasteners.

What is a clinch joint?

A clinch joint is a durable, permanent connection of metal sheets or profiles formed under pressure by cold stamping. A form-closed interlock is created in a single working stroke of the punch — no rivets, screws or welding required. The joint can be two-layer or multilayer, and parts made of stainless and mild steel, aluminium and other non-ferrous metals can be joined together. Another key advantage is that painted and coated surfaces of the joined parts remain undamaged.

Advantages of clinch joints

  • high joint strength;
  • the joining point is formed instantly;
  • no limit on the number of material layers being joined;
  • parts made of different steels and alloys can be joined;
  • no additional fasteners required;
  • no heat input — corrosion resistance remains intact;
  • the rectangular joint point is ideal for high-hardness and stainless steels;
  • excellent quality of the finished products.

When ordering, any die can be selected for the tool according to the total thickness of the sheets to be joined. Replacing the punch or die is quick and simple and requires no special tools or operator experience.

To ensure high speed and reliable operation of the pneumatic components, the tool should be supplied through an air preparation unit with an output flow capacity of at least 450 Nl/min, including the pneumatic tubing.

The air preparation unit, spring balancer, swivel ring and other auxiliary modules for this tool are available as optional accessories.

Applications

Thanks to its reliability, undemanding maintenance and the speed with which the clinch joint is formed, this hand-held pneumatic clinching tool has proven itself in small and large plants manufacturing ventilation systems and other equipment. It is ideally suited to the production of rectangular ventilation ducts, silencers, duct fans, pocket filters and similar components.

Die selection

When ordering, the die can be selected according to the total thickness of the sheets to be joined:

Die No. 1total sheet thickness 0.8–1.5 mm
Die No. 2total sheet thickness 1.6–2.0 mm
Die No. 3total sheet thickness 2.1–2.5 mm
Die No. 4total sheet thickness 2.6–3.0 mm
Die No. 5total sheet thickness 3.1–3.5 mm
