Pneumohydraulic Clinching Tool with Intensifier

Compact pneumohydraulic clinching tool with a working force of 35 kN — an alternative to spot welding, especially where the protective coating of the joined parts must remain intact.

Description

Tool advantages

  • minimal dimensions and high manoeuvrability;
  • fast operation — the joining point is formed in 0.6–1.2 s;
  • the joint preserves the integrity of the protective coating;
  • the pneumohydraulic drive guarantees high reliability;
  • round and rectangular joint shapes are available;
  • no smoke or sparks;
  • straightforward servicing and low operating costs.

This compact clinching tool was created for joining metal sheets and serves as an alternative to spot welding, especially where preserving the coating is essential. Its minimal dimensions, combined with compact tooling, allow work in hard-to-reach areas, with joined flanges (bends) starting from just 10 mm. The C-frame plier-type grip makes it easy to work in confined spaces and with narrow parts. The strong, permanent joint can be repeated quickly and easily thanks to the compact forming tooling (punch/die) and the high working force of 35 kN. A built-in adjustment nut allows the tool to be reset for a different total sheet thickness in no more than 5 minutes.

The working head of the tool can also become part of an automated production line — it can be mounted on robotic cells, linear actuators and similar systems. The standard scope of supply includes a swivel ring that provides 360-degree rotation of the tool, allowing the operator to work in different planes. The tool operates with the pneumohydraulic intensifier supplied as part of the set.

The payback period is very short thanks to minimal operating and maintenance costs and the absence of additional fasteners.

What is a clinch joint?

A clinch joint is a durable, permanent connection of metal sheets or profiles formed under pressure by cold stamping. A form-closed interlock is created in a single working stroke of the punch — no rivets, screws or welding required. The joint can be two-layer or multilayer, and parts made of stainless and mild steel, aluminium and other non-ferrous metals can be joined together. Another key advantage is that painted and coated surfaces of the joined parts remain undamaged.

Advantages of clinch joints

  • high joint strength;
  • the joining point is formed in 0.6–1.2 s;
  • no limit on the number of material layers being joined;
  • parts made of different steels and alloys can be joined;
  • no additional fasteners required;
  • corrosion-resistant joint thanks to the absence of heat input;
  • the rectangular joint point is ideal for high-hardness and stainless steels;
  • excellent quality of the finished products.

Applications

Thanks to its reliability, ergonomics, undemanding maintenance and the instant formation of the clinch joint, this hand-held clinching tool has proven itself in small and large plants specialising in ventilation systems (fire dampers, ventilation valves and other products), as well as in the manufacture of road signs, household appliances, metal cabinets, electrical enclosures, refrigeration equipment, machine building and other industrial sectors.

When ordering, the forming tooling — punch and die — can be selected according to the required joint shape and the thickness of the sheets to be joined.
